After three successive defeats the 1st team of Icklesham Casuals returned to winning ways last Saturday with a 4-1 win over Peche Hill Select at Icklesham Recreation Ground.
The Casuals started well and took the lead in the 12th minute when Phil Badrock netted following a corner and Badrock scored again on 37 minutes, with a neat finish after a knock down from Liam Sayer for a 2-0 interval lead.
There was a touch of fortune about the third goal on 62 minutes when Sayer’s cross was deflected to Kieran Dighton in the area with Dighton firing the ball into the top corner.
An excellent solo effort saw Peche Hill pull a goal back in the 66th minute, but Steffan Davies made the game safe 10 minutes from time with a fine solo effort after being put through by Badrock down the left.
Icklesham now lie fourth in the table but with wins in the final two matches, a top two finish is still possible.
The previous Wednesday the 2nd team completed their season with a 4-2 defeat against a strong Robertsbridge United II side. Goals from Solly Cooke and Lee Pierce left the teams level at half-time but two second half goals gave Robertsbridge a deserved victory.
