This Easter Saturday, cricket returns to the Rye Cricket Salts.

All the hard work of the winter has been completed, with the refurbishment of the pavilion, internally and externally, new sightscreens, and roll-on covers. An additional mobile net is due this week.

Rye 1st Xl host Cowdray for a 1pm start. Rye will be welcoming to the ranks Zimbabwean test player Carl Mumba, as the team prepare for the 2022 Season. Carl touches down on Friday from Harare, so he will welcome the early opportunity to adjust to English conditions.

Carl will be joining the coaching team at Rye. He currently plays first class cricket for Mid-West Rhinos and is proving to be a consistent performer for his franchise side. At the time of writing, he has taken 126 first-class wickets at an impressive average of 23.91. In List A cricket he has taken fifty-nine wickets at 27.15. A more than capable batter, he has a first-class fifty to his name and in his last stint overseas he scored over five hundred league runs.  He will be coaching on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and supporting the junior teams on match nights, whilst playing in the 1st Xl on Saturdays.
