Cricket team faces testing weekend

Rye Cricket Club’s indoor team are entering a cup competition this Sunday, with the finals on January 18. The winners of the cup will represent the East Area Cricket Association at the County Cup. It will be a good test for Rye as they will be competing against Hastings and Bexhill. Rye’s first game of the day starts at 11:15am against Bells Yew Green, with Bexhill awaiting the winner in the quarter final at about 3pm.

The fixture list for the day looks like this:
Sunday January 11
10:00am- Hastings Priory 2s v Robertsbridge 2s
11:15am- Bells Yew Green v Rye
12:30pm- Crowborough Phoenix v Ashburnham

Quarter final
13:45pm – Robertsbridge 1s v Bodiam
15:00pm – Bexhill 1s v Rye or Bells Yew Green

Captain Joe Lovell said: “It would be great if people wanted to come and watch some cricket, have a laugh throughout the day and show some support to the team. Let’s keep the wins going lads.”

The competition is at Horntye Park Sports Complex, Bohemia Road, Hastings TN34 1EX.
