Rye Harbour Sailing Club (RHSC) had its annual Commodore’s regatta over the four glorious days of the Easter weekend.

Four days of glorious sailing

Easter Sunday also saw the dinghies going out for a race at sea. Although Mark Whitemand was first over the finishing line in his Scorpion he was pipped to the post by Steve Eccles in his Laser as overall winner. Third were husband and wife Claire and John Powell in their Laser 2000.

As often in our lovely bay, the very light wind picked up at high tide giving the cruiser races a very competitive racing series that was highly contested. Luna, skippered by David Preston, won days one and four, with day two won by Mallard, skippered by Howard Bates, and day three won by Roxanne, skippered by Rick Elliot. This made David Preston and crew the winner of the coveted Commodore’s Cup as well as a bottle of rum as the overall winner of the series.

Prizegiving was accompanied by a barbecue at the clubhouse of the RHSC at Rye Harbour on Easter Monday.
