Mixed fortunes for Icklesham

The second team of Icklesham Casuals are still looking for their first win of the season after going out of the Hastings Lower Divisions Cup to Mayfield. The Casuals matched their higher league opponents in the opening 20 minutes but then conceded four times before the interval. Icklesham improved in the second period but Mayfield added two further goals to run out deserved 6-0 winners.

Icklesham Casuals Veterans team maintained their 100% record in the Hastings Veterans League with a comfortable victory over Peche Hill Select on Sunday (October 19). After an even start to the game Icklesham gradually got on top and opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Sacha Patterson turned in a cross from Pete Gumbrell  with the ball striking the bar before bouncing down over the line. Two minutes later a speculative shot from Martin Tytherleigh was fumbled into the net by the Peche Hill goalkeeper. Pete Gumbrell added a fine individual goal after 31 minutes to make the score 3-0 at the break. Icklesham dominated the second half but failed to add to their tally with Martin Tytheleigh missing from the penalty spot.

Result: Icklesham Casuals Veterans 3 v Peche Hill Select Veterans 0

The Casuals next game is at home to Little Common Veterans this Sunday (October 26).
