Mixed week for bowls teams

Rye played Peasmarsh at home in a league match of four triples on Thursday June 14. After a damp start the greens were surprisingly fast, and some players never got the speed.   The Rye teams comprised:

A win and a loss for the bowls teams

Team 1 – Annette Bull (lead), Sue Hollister (second), Roger Taylor (skip) They won their match by 10 points to 7.
Team 2 – Monty Crouch (lead), Rosemarie Crouch (second), Don Williams (skip)  won their match by 25 points to 10.
Team 3 – Tony Kember (lead), Norman Hickman (second), Dave Harrison (skip) won their match by 19 points to 12.
Team 4 – Sandra Romeo (lead), Eileen Peck (second), Mick Wood (skip) They lost their match by 23 points to 6.
The Overall Score was Rye 86 points – Peasmarsh 35 points.                                                                League Points – Rye 8 (3 wins + overall score) – Peasmarsh (2 points for 1 win)
On Saturday June 16 Rye played Fairlight at home in a league match of four triples. The greens were in perfect condition and the Fairlight captain complimented Rye on the quality of the rinks, (so much so, they won!) The Rye teams comprised:
Team 1 – Bert Ockenden (lead), Rowland Gardner (second), Mick Woods (skip). They lost their match by 16 points to 22.
Team 2 – John Davidson (lead), Norman Hickman (second), Dave Harrison (skip) They lost their match by 20 points to 21.
Team 3 – Annette Bull (lead), Sue Hollister (second), Don Williams (skip) They won their match by 27 points to 12.
Team 4 – Sandra Romeo (lead), Eileen Peck (second), Roy Dyer (skip) They lost their match by 17 points to 24.
Overall Score Rye 80 points – Fairlight 79 points.                                                                                    League Points Rye 4 points (1 win + overall score) – Fairlight (6 points for 3 wins)
