Icklesham Casuals took all three points in their Division Four clash away to Sedlescombe Rangers III last Saturday securing a 3-2 victory with literally the last kick of the match.

The Casuals started the game well, knocking the ball around confidently with Sedlescombe, including players from their first team, finding it hard to get into the game but failed to take their chances in the first half, the best of which fell to Sean Baker, playing in an unfamiliar position of late at centre forward.

This goal took its time coming

After the break Icklesham took a deserved lead when Leon Pettit unselfishly squared the ball for Mike Benton to finish, only for Sedlescombe to come right back into the game with their first real chance when an unchallenged header made its way into the goal. The match was now more evenly balanced although neither side created any clear chances until a half-hearted shot from Pettit found Baker who duly dispatched it into the net. Again the lead did not last long with Sedlescombe converting a one-on-one opportunity to draw level for a second time.

With less than 30 seconds remaining, substitute Phil Badrock dispossessed the Rangers centre-back and laid the ball to Baker who slotted a pass through for George Barrow to fire in the winning goal.

This Saturday the Casuals are at home to Old Town Lions while on Sunday afternoon the veterans play Bexhill Town Veterans in the Hastings F.A. Veterans League. Both matches kick-off at 2pm.
