Last Saturday, July 27, saw all three Rye cricket teams washed out by mid morning. Overnight torrential rain ensured no play was possible. Even with covers, the ongoing rain meant play was never possible. This Saturday with a better weather forecast promised Rye 1st XI travel to play Rottingdean for a 12:30pm start. Rye 2nds host Pevensey 1st XI at the Cricket Salts in a match sponsored by The Mermaid Inn, and the 3rd XI host Pett 2nds at Northiam.

Next Tuesday Rye hosts the MCC in a bi-annual fixture, between two of the oldest cricket clubs in the world, Rye being the older of the two. The match commences at 11:30am, with Rye hoping to repeat the victory over the MCC in 2017. Rye will be led by 1st XI skipper Harry Smeed, and hope overseas paceman Altaf Ahmed can make an impact on the MCC batting line-up.

The club has sold out all the seats for lunch at 1:30pm. A big thank you to Mahdi Spice who will be supplying a curry supper post match.
