It was a good weekend for Rye Bay with both under 8 and under 12 teams winning their games. Rye bay under 8’s had an early kick off last Sunday away to Westfield move and the under 12s were at home to Bexhill.

The under 8 boys started the game on the front foot with some great passes and a couple of good attacks. The first well taken goal came from Oliver MacDonald after some great play by the Rye Bay boys and soon after that Theo Cornell scored a second. Westfield had some great attacks but Evan Whiting and Theo were tackling well at the back. George Buss also was having a brilliant game and his hard work paid off with him having a few good shots with one hitting the post! It was George’s pass that got Oliver’s second, but then after starting so well the boys got goal hungry and were caught out at the back. Westfield scored which was harsh on Kevin Tucker in goal as it bounced off the post onto his leg and in.

As usual Rye boys didn’t moan. They just got on with the game, but again Westfield caught them out and scored another and it stayed that way to half time. The second half started the same: Rye Bay on the attack and then a great moment for George Buss his first goal for Rye bay he was so chuffed as he has been so close in the last few games. Game on as this sparked Westfield on and they scored again, this was a great game to watch. Thomas James & Akshat Suthagaran came on for George Buss and Theo Cornell, and they both did really well helping at the back with Evan Whiting. And from Evan’s corner Oliver grabbed his hat trick. What a game! But it was soon game on again and Westfield pushed for another. But Evan Whiting broke free and grabbed a goal for himself. The game ended that way! What a result! Rye Bay U8’s first win and what a win it was. Everyone played brilliant! With Theo Cornell being the man of the match – for all his hard work. But every single one of the boys worked their socks off.

The under 12 team were at home to Bexhill Town. It was a brilliant game with both teams playing well. Final score was Rye 4 – Bexhill 1. Hat trick for Kia Jerry and the fourth from Jordan Kilsby.

This week Rye Bays under 8s have a home game on Saturday morning with a 10am kick-off, so come down, grab a bacon roll and a cup of tea or coffee and watch the boys.
