Destination store ‘Ethel loves me’ is moving to larger premises at 105, High Street with the new shop opening on Saturday July 28.
The unique Rye concept store, which presents one-off work by local creatives, artists and craftspeople and has proved a run-away success both in the community and with customers from further afield since its launch a year ago, is on the move to a new location and a larger store, making room for more unique art pieces, craft and special events.
The new store will be located on the corner of East Street (Ethel’s first home) and the High Street, and will be opening its doors with a private view on Friday July 27 and trading from Saturday  July 28, in time for the high summer holiday season. Visitors can expect to find new work by Ethel favourites including artists James Tomlinson, Carrie Warrior, Shirley Parker-Gore and Max Wildman; creatives Bekky May, Fish & Ships, Float Press and Chantal Gharagozlou; jeweller Helen Morgan-Jones; and artisan candle makers Urban Buttercup.
The larger premises will mean that there will be room to showcase and sell the work of other creatives, so expect many surprises and guest creatives in store. In addition Ethel will continue to champion the work of rising stars and talented students, beginning with the extraordinary paintings of up and coming local artist Bernette Boost, who recently graduated from London’s Central Saint Martins.
This new era will see Ethel getting’ with it’ by joining the digital age and launching her dedicated online store for the autumn season, allowing international customers to find and purchase unique and quirky one-off items in time for the gifting season.
The trio behind Ethel (Jason and Jo Dorey and Matt Forbes-Dale) would like to take this opportunity to thank all their wonderful customers for their unwavering support and enthusiasm as well as all the fantastically talented creatives they represent – without all of you Ethel would not exist.
Ethel will be opening her doors for a private view on Friday July 27 from 5pm to 9pm and those interested in joining the party should email ethelloves@me. The shop is located at 105, High Street. For further info, please contact matt@ethelloves.me or ring him on 07949 039715.
