Chase Skinner has shown a great deal of potential in her training for kickboxing and kata over the last few months and set off to Gloucester with a great deal of enthusiasm.

The International Sport Karate Association were excited to host the English Championships 2024 for Tatami Sports on Sunday April 14 which were held at the GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester. This was a qualifying event for the ISKA World Championships 2024 in Vienna. Chase was chosen to represent her club and set off with high hopes.

She achieved her dream of a podium place, winning a bronze medal. This means that now she will represent Great Britain in Austria in October. What an amazing achievement for Chase who is only ten years old. Her scores from the three judges were 9, 8.9 and 8.8. She also took two silver medals in kickboxing in a previous event.

Her mother Sherry said: “We are all so very proud of her and her dedication to her training. Whilst others of her age are out playing she is practising for hours and it is wonderful for her to receive recognition. Her coaches, Sean Kinsella and Clair Martin, can see her potential and are incredibly supportive and encouraging.”

At the moment she is being sponsored by three local businesses: Stitches, Martin’s Laundrette and Botley Taxis but she needs more support to enable her to travel to Austria.
