Next week Junior Cricket returns to the Rye Cricket Salts and it will return to be greeted by the newly laid artificial wicket on the square (see above) and the refurbished practice nets, thus offering excellent facilities for practice and, more importantly, young people will be returning to have fun with their friends, in a lovely open space, nestling under the citadel of Rye and Rye Hill.

On Tuesday May 4, the Hardball Sessions commence at 6-7pm for Under 11s / Under 13s and at 7-8pm for Under 15s and 18s. The sessions are organised by English Cricket Board qualified coaches and augmented with use of a bowling machine, and the age groups will be engaged in competitive cricket which commences towards the end of May. There is also the opportunity for the older Juniors to play in the 3rd Xl on Saturdays in Adult League Cricket.

On Friday May 7, Rye launches the National Cricket Schemes of All Stars for 5-8 year olds and Cricket Dynamos for 9-11 year olds. Fully trained coaches will provide an introduction to the fun and skills of cricket for girls and boys, and the programme lasts for 8 weeks and provides a gateway to playing hardball cricket.

To sign up for the hardball cricket contact Martin Blincow on blincsfamily@aol.com for the signing on form, and for the National Cricket Schemes please use this [Please insert link] link to select the appropriate programme.
