When in 2019 Lady Brenda Hale, as President of the Supreme Court, announced its unanimous ruling that the Prime Minister Boris Johnson had illegally prorogued Parliament, global attention focused on her iconic diamante spider brooch.

Baroness Hale became Spider Woman!

And much time was spent in the media looking for overt and hidden meanings in her choice of jewelry – which she had bought for a tenner. We listen to the Baroness as she talks about her illustrious career in the law, both in the courts as a barrister and latterly as a judge, and in academia – she spent many years teaching law at the University of Manchester.
