Ceramics Open Studios, June 2019
Jane Sarre will be opening her ceramics studio at 20 Clifton Road, Ore, Hastings with guest ceramicist Annabel Faraday, as part of South East Open Studios on 8/9/10 and 14/15/16 June 2019. Jane makes sculptural ceramics that respond to her experience of place. A recent residency at Dungeness allowed her to develop an interest in the the functional architecture of the area, and she is now creating works inspired by drawings and photographs and memories made on site. Formerly a maker of thrown tableware, Jane is featured in the Crafts Council Directory and has clients including Nuno Mendez, Jamie Oliver and the Heatherwick Studio. Health issues led to a change in direction and Jane is now enjoying the creative freedom to explore the region and develop new ideas. She teaches regular classes from her studio. Annabel Faraday is a ceramicist and printmaker and makes stoneware vessels and wall pieces, using a unique method of printing onto raw clay and incorporating found objects, to portray landscapes and invoke atmospheres inspired by the local environment. Annabel has been a ceramicist for over 30 years, exhibits locally, throughout the UK and abroad and is a professional member of the Crafts Potters Association. Her work can be seen at www.annabelfaraday.com.
