Martin & Eliza Carthy

Whilst Martin has appeared at Rye Arts Festival with his wife Norma Waterson and Eliza has played here with her own band (both some years ago), this concert is a great opportunity to see father and daughter working together.

Both outstanding singers, Martin also contributes his instantly recognisable acoustic guitar playing, whilst Eliza brings her outstanding fiddle-playing skills. Twice nominated for the Mercury Prize and winner of innumerable other accolades over a 20-year career, Eliza has performed and recorded with a diverse array of artists including Paul Weller, Rufus and Martha Wainwright. Whether in the folk clubs (which he continues to champion), on the concert stage or making TV appearances, there are few roles that Martin Carthy hasn’t played in an illustrious career spanning over 50 years.
