The specialist beading shop Beadcraft has launched its range of Christmas angels and fairies in time for the holiday season. Jo Morphy’s bead and beading shop is a treasure chest for those who enjoy bead jewellery, embroidery and decorations.

In addition to selling all things bead-related Jo runs workshops in which beginners can learn the art of beading, often starting with pony beads before moving on to smaller seed beads. The workshops cost £15 per head for each two-hour session and students can take or wear their newly made work home. Jo also runs a “home-educated pupils” workshop every Friday from 10:30am to 12:30pm costing £10 per child. Jo is often inspired by the spontaneity of children because as she says: “In learning you teach and in teaching you learn.”

As a former pearl restringer for Liberty, Jo also provides a jewellery repair and restringing service including string shortening and knotting, and she can carry out unusual repairs, although she does not offer silversmithing.

The Christmas angels and fairies, which retail at £1.50 each, are proving very popular and can be bought either readymade or children can assemble their own in less than five minutes. And there are also festive Christmas earrings on sterling silver ear wires at £5 a pop.

Beadcraft is open from 9:30am to 4pm from Monday to Saturday and is located on the ground floor of Rope Walk Shopping Mews. Jo can be contacted on 07857 344274 or through the Facebook page Beadcraft Rye.
