Three leading boutiques in Rye have teamed up to put on a fashion show at the Town Hall on October 22, to raise funds for the Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital.
Lesley Farrow of Niche in Cinque Ports Street, who organises the show, told us that the idea is to give people fresh ideas about clothes that might suit them, but which they might not otherwise have considered. Her collection includes daywear – coats, trousers, dresses – and moves on to glamorous cocktail and evening wear, with an eye towards the Christmas season. She said: “It’s a fun evening. People come along, have a glass of bubbly, watch the show, take part in the raffle and then often go on for supper.”
She is depending on four key models, all local, elegant and, of course, impeccably dressed and range in age from 30 to 80. This year, two guest models have agreed to make their debut: the mayor, Bernadine Fiddimore, and a (brave) gentleman who will be showing outfits from W.J. Bennett gentlemen’s outfitters in the High Street.
Wonderful hats from Herald and Hart on the High Street will be matched to appropriate outfits from Niche. And to make sure the models are feeling at their very best, Rye Retreat on Cinque Ports street will be on hand to beautify their hair and make-up.
Tickets are available from Rye Retreat, Bennetts and Niche at £10, including a glass of fizz. Doors open at 6.30pm and the show starts at 7.00pm.
