On Monday June 8, nine “secret gardens” will be open in Winchelsea from 2pm to 5.30pm, writes Irna Mortlock.

All proceeds from this event will be going to ARRCC (Activities, Respite, Rehabilitation Care Centre) in Rye, a local service for people with physical disabilities and sensory impairments. Entry is £6 per person which can be paid at any of the featured nine gardens and includes a local map to take you to each garden. Light refreshments, afternoon tea and homemade cakes together with plants will be available to purchase at Winchelsea New Hall. Parking will be in the streets around Winchelsea. Look out for signposted gardens.
