Cable thefts investigated

Sussex Police are investigating after the theft of electric cables in Rye on 23 March.

The cables were stolen from New Road in Rye and on Camber Road in East Guldeford – including the electric charging points at Salts Farm.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said, “We are aware of concerns raised about theft of electric cables in the Rye area and the impact this has had on local businesses. We received reports on 24 March and 26 March relating to the cable thefts and damage. Both incidents are believed to have occurred overnight on 23 March.”

Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team have increased patrols in the area.

“We continue to urge anyone who has been impacted by theft, or crime, to report incidents to us,” said the spokesoperson. “We are also appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in these areas on 23 March, or who may have relevant information or CCTV footage, to come forward. Information can be reported to police online or by calling 101, but in an emergency always dial 999.”
