Space to pause and reconnect

A monthly women’s circle held in Rye is offering participants a chance to step away from the pressures of daily life and reconnect with themselves through meditation, breathwork and relaxation.

Run by holistic practitioner Lara Raybone from House of Womban, the gatherings (also referred to as The Red Tent) take place in a spacious yurt tucked away in a charming garden setting, complete with fluffy chickens wandering nearby and ducks making their presence known. The sessions follow the lunar cycle, with each one shaped by the energy of the moon and the changing seasons.

Lara describes the circles as “a spacious, supportive place to slow down, settle your nervous system, and reconnect with yourself away from the demands of everyday life.” Combining breathwork, movement, meditation, deep relaxation and sound, the evenings are designed to support calm, emotional balance and a sense of grounding.

I attended the session on Wednesday 13 May and was welcomed into a warm and relaxed atmosphere. After a short introduction, Lara guided the group through two visualisation-based relaxations. Participants were invited to share their experiences afterwards, though there was no pressure to speak.

The circle is open to women of all ages and experience levels, with the emphasis on arriving “as you are.” Most attendees were returning participants, drawn back by the supportive environment and sense of connection the evenings create.

As for me, the two hours flew by in a dreamy, sleepy limbo of relaxation. Overall, it was a gentle and restorative experience — one I will happily attend again.

Places for the monthly circles are limited. Sessions cost £30 on a drop-in basis or £20 per month via rolling subscription. You can book here.
