The recently refurbished Rye Harbour Village Hall with its new sanded floor was host again to basket weavers, travelling from Bristol and Canterbury as well as Rye to attend a two day course on Saturday and Sunday November 25 and 26. By the end they had made a willow handbag, and several other items under the instruction of Julie Gurr who was running the event.
Julie will be running new classes in January and February – a one day basketmaking class on February 20 is a great chance to have a go if you haven’t tried it before, and a weekend class on February 17-18, making baskets using willow and other materials from the woods (suitable for beginners or those with experience) .
