Plaristo of Rye, the popular candle, plant and wool shop, is sorely missed in the High Street since it closed its doors at the end of May. Silvia Shinn, of the vibrant family business explains: “This was not an easy decision and we left the town with much sadness. We loved the buzz in the shop and made sure that the outside contributed to the ambience in the beautiful town. We made many friends among fellow traders and customers alike. Thankfully our regulars have managed to find us on Rye Harbour Road and are loving the new, much larger premises.

The shop with its large display windows towards the busy road is packed with popular and unusual houseplants – sourced from Europe’s top growers. There are natural candles and essential oils which Plaristo produce in their warehouse in the back and an amazing colour palate of non-toxic dinner candles made by their partners in Germany. The signature glass candle holders and lamps light up a whole wall in the magical candle room at the back.

For those who love Plaristo’s home dyed collection of natural yarns there is a surpriseĀ  upstairs, an inspiring weavery nearly ready to offer classes in weaving, dying, knitting and crocheting. The new premises are well worth visiting and with parking easy by the front door visitors will love the ease of shopping in this unique store. There is also a website to order products online or call 01797 214 103.
