Salts Farm shop and cafe had an anniversary to celebrate at this popular, almost alternative, shop for local people, selling local produce and good coffee.
The Book Club has attracted many and last Thursday, January 26, celebrated its first anniversary
As can be seen seen from the photos the group gathered to discuss the previous book, eat a specially made cake, and look forward to reading and discussing the next which is:
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
by Mary Anne Shaffer & Annie Burrows
This book is an interesting insight into life on one of the Channel Islands, Guernsey under Nazi rule and how inventive the islanders became.
Salts farm shop is run by Judith and Peter Anthony on what was Judith’s family farm on the bend at the A259 and New Road.
It is thought that Salts Farm was bought by the Catt family from the parents of the famed Rye and Hastings painter and writer Edward Burra who was born at Springfield Lodge in Playden, just up the Hill from Rye in 1905 and died in Hastings in 1976.
This venue is fast becoming a community hub for East Guldeford and Camber but also Rye escapees.
The next Book Club meeting is on Thursday, February 23 – have a read and come along at 10:30am.
