The Oxford Lieder concert series at Fairlight Hall continues this July with a concert from Ted Black.

Tenor Ted Black was recently a finalist in the world-famous Kathleen Ferrier Awards. He is currently singing two major Mozart roles for Opera Wrocław in Poland before he returns to the prestigious Benjamin Britten Opera School at the Royal College of Music.

The concert will take place on Sunday July 4. The gates open at 10:30am and the concert starts at 11. Tickets are available here. They cost £15 and include coffee and cake.

Ted will bring a fantastic programme of French, Spanish and English songs: the bright wit of Francis Poulenc, a striking atmosphere of Cuba from the Spanish composer Xavier Montsalvage, songs by Debussy and Britten, and selections of Hans Eisler’s Hollywood Songbook.

This is a socially distanced event with temperature checks on arrival. Face masks and hand sanitisers will be available for every guest.

Oxford Lieder Festival is the UK’s biggest and most renowned festival of classical song, and the recipient of a prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award. As well as presenting many of the world’s greatest musicians in Oxford each October, Oxford Lieder supports the very brightest artists of the new generation both at the Festival and further afield throughout the year.

Over the course of the year, Oxford Lieder’s artistic director – the pianist Sholto Kynoch – will introduce exceptional emerging professional singers to Fairlight, in a range of programmes designed to appeal to all and to showcase brilliant young voices and glorious music. Sholto will give a spoken introduction to each programme, and there will be a chance to meet the artists informally over coffee after each of the performances.
