Rye Film Club presents John Izod’s “Misfortune” on Saturday 30 July 30 in the Community Centre.

If you had the good fortune to know John Izod you may not know that he starred in a 1988 Canadian film called “Misfortune”. It follows the adventures of an avaricious middle-aged businessman in search of treasure on a south seas island. When John attended the audition, he was told to regress to being a five year old, which as you can imagine was not too difficult for him. He obviously soon got into character and got the part. The film was shot in Jamaica and is reckoned to be a true classic in the so bad it’s good vein. The relevance of his reverting to childhood will soon become apparent as you watch the film. The running time is 90 minutes and it will be preceeded by an interview with John shot in Rye some two years ago.

All proceeds from ticket sales for the film will go to a charity close to John’s heart, the Rye and District Day Centre.  Tickets available at £5 each (including members) from Grammar School Records on the High Street or call 01797 222752. There will be a fully-licensed bar, as John would have appreciated!

Doors open 6.30pm for 7pm.
