Young Brighton director Elliott Hasler chose to shoot a scene from his new independent film “Vindication Swim” in Rye, which stood in for France in 1927.

Local volunteers including members of Rye Players (plus Corey the horse) acted as extras on the set, joining the main actors Kirsten Callaghan and John Locke early on Sunday morning.

Filming of this true story of the first woman to swim the English Channel has been delayed due to Covid-19, but is due to finish later this year and will feature at Cannes Film Festival.
