Experiential theatre venue ExploreTheArch is hosting an extraordinary show in St Leonards about avant-garde artist Marcelle van Caille, telling her story of migration from Belgium to Britain though letter, music and drama.

A inspirational artist

The play (there isn’t really a big enough word to describe the experience) takes place in three rooms of Archer Lodge, a family home, to an intimate audience of only 15 people.

Henry Sanford, Marcelle’s husband provided many of her paintings, some of which have not been seen for decades as well as many letters. A prolific artist, Marcelle was exceptionally innovative and pioneered the inclusion of fibreglass, scrap metals and other materials within her work.

The show runs until August 17 so there is just time to see it. Tickets are available online  – but not many!
