A evening of music awaits on Saturday, October 26 at St Mary’s Church, Rye.
Cantemus is a small, semi-professional local choir, meeting in Beckley. It has been formed for around four years and specialises in early music. Its singers hail from Rye and the surrounding villages and all have connections with music.
They will be performing Jesu, meine Freude and Lobet den Herrn alongside vocal arrangements of Sleepers Awake and Air on a G String amongst other works for voice and organ. The evening is structured around a narration explaining Johann Sebastian Bach’s life and music.
Tickets are £10 if purchased on line or £15 on the door (7 for 7:30pm).
Director Christopher Arnold conducts, Nigel Howard on the organ. Proceeds to charity.
