The Red Door gallery in Cinque Ports Street is hosting a two-week autumn exhibition, curated by Penny MacFarlane of Oil&Water Contemporary Art. Penny and her son Jonny have an online art gallery and she curates at least two pop-up shows a year at various venues, which brought her to the Red Door exhibition space. This time it was opened up without a central display stand, which makes the light from the window bounce off the white walls and highlights the wonderful colours in the images.

The first week’s exhibition, which began on October 9 and ends on Monday October 15, features paintings by four different artists, Katherine Rowe, Henrietta Stuart, Gerard Mortier and Geca who feature in the Oil & Water online catalogue. They are all well known and selected for the relevance of these particular works to the setting. Each has a very different style and this gives choice and variety. It all makes for a rewarding visit.
Next week, October 15 to 21, there will be different exhibits, including ceramics, prints and charcoal drawings.
Open: Wednesday to Monday October 9 to 14, 2019, 11am until 5pm; and Tuesday October 15 to Monday October 21, 11am to 5pm.
