There’s no denying that the much anticipated town panto has suffered a few setbacks. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, postponed once because of Covid, was on track to open at the end of January. But then, amid widespread confusion about the “rules” as the virus peaked again, the production ran into new challenges that made another postponement inevitable. The show will now open on December 10 at the Rye Community Centre.

In the meantime, and always alert to the need to raise funds to keep the group going, the cast of last year’s arts Festival hit Canterburye Tales has responded to a call out for involvement in the Hastings Fringe Festival 25 – 30 July. The date for your diaries is Tuesday July 26 at 7:30pm at the Stables Theatre, Hastings. There are 126 seats to fill so please make it a date and come along. The play will also be performed outdoors again in Rye as the weather improves, so do check the town app and social media for details as they are confirmed.

So what’s next for the Players? Well, they’re going to the pub and they invite you to join them there. Play readings are a great way to meet people and have fun. The back room at the Queens Head has been booked from 7pm on Tuesday, March 22 to read The Mock Doctor by Henry Fielding. Whether your ambitions are onstage or off, Rye Players will be delighted to see you.
