Rye Art Gallery (RAG), at 107 High Street, was a busy place this week with several artists from the Rye Society of Arts (RSA) bringing in their paintings and helping to hang them in the space of their choice. A lot of work goes into this initial process which on the opening day looks absolutely fantastic. At the same time staff were trying to keep galleries 1 and 2 open for the odd visitor to view Keith Purser and Tom Marsh.

The RSA spring exhibition will open Saturday, March 18 and will continue until May 1. Another exhibition in gallery 6 will be shown simultaneously, called ’tilt’ with Rosamund Cran, Adrienne Hunter, Nick Snelling and Sarah Palmer.

Just to give a flavour of the RSA artists in gallery 3 and 4 there are works by Sally Cole, Davida Smith, Louis Turpin, Karl Terry, Nick Archer, Vicki Atkinson (beautiful ceramic heads) and many more. The usual collection of jewellery and variety of cards are also available.

The gallery is open daily (not Tuesday) from 11am to 5pm, bank holidays and Sundays 11am to 4pm. Any further information please go to www.ryesocietyofartists.co.uk or www.ryeartgallery.co.uk
