An Introduction to Printmaking with Nick Archer
Introduction
In partnership with Rye Art gallery and their exhibition ‘The Art of British Printmaking’ I will be running a workshop in the Print Room at Rye Creative Centre – ‘An Introduction to Printmaking (Monoprint and Drypoint Etching)’.
Monoprint is where you paint onto a smooth printing plate and then print this onto paper creating ‘one off’ prints. Drypoint is where you scratch into a plate using a sharp tool and then print the plate on the press. I will be showing you the process of making a print using these techniques and help you to develop your visual ideas.
Sessions
The workshop will be divided into 2 x 3-hour sessions.
10am – 1pm – monoprinting
2pm – 5pm – Dry point etching
The groups are small (5 people maximum) and are tailored to all abilities from complete
beginners to those with more experience.
