Birds – their Nests, Eggs and Young – Rye Harbour Discovery Centre
Spring is in the air and we suddenly see a huge change in the behaviour of our breeding bird populations. Great-crested Grebes dance on the water together displaying their tippets, while male Lapwings sky-dive noisily in order to impress their prospective mates. All around us male birds will be singing to attract females and aggressively mark out their territories against local rivals. Nests will be built, females start egg-laying and it won’t be long before there are hungry mouths to feed. The breeding season is undoubtedly a busy and fascinating time and John Buckingham will help us try to understand something of the simple breeding biology of birds.
Suitable for adults and accompanied children over 10.
