Explore Rye Harbour Nature Reserve at Night

As the sun sets, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve goes to sleep … or does it? Some of our reserve’s most amazing creatures are just waking up to start the nightshift. In this special event we’ll learn about the bats, birds, mammals, moths and other animals that are active through the night.

The evening starts at Rye Harbour Discovery Centre with an illustrated presentation on the reserve’s nocturnal wildlife. Then, after tea and coffee, we’ll venture out onto the reserve on a guided wildlife walk to look and listen for nocturnal animals. We’ll be listening for night birds in the reeds and using bat detectors to eavesdrop on bats and insects. Suitable for all ages. Torch required.
