Ryebank gallery Exhibition Opening Reception
Presents Jemimah Patterson, Biddenden Maids
We are pleased to present this intricate and thought-provoking exhibition from Jemimah Patterson.
Paterson says;
“My work is heavily influenced by the fact that I’m one of a conjoined set of identical twins.
I paint exclusively on mirrored or reflective surfaces, paired or mirrored motifs recur throughout my work, often creating surrogate double portraits. My magnetic attraction to doubled imagery emerges in my manipulation of shadows and mirrors. I employ found objects in conjunction with paint to express my ideas. I search out antique drawers, boxes and canvases with an interesting provenance and add my own layer on to them to further explore the idea of a double existence.”
The opening reception is being held on the 3rd December from 5 pm until 8 pm.
The exhibition continues until the 5th of January in our Woollett room.
