Summer Picnic Concert
This year’s Summer Picnic Concert at Fairlight Hall offers the perfect opportunity to hear the runner-up from this year’s Hastings International Piano Competition again. Described by Artistic Director Vanessa Latarche as ‘a truly extraordinary and thoughtful pianist who clearly has a tremendous career ahead of him’, the 21 year-old Ukrainian pianist Roman Fediurko arrived in Hastings hotfoot from winning the prestigious Takamatsu Prize in Japan and then impressed our international jury with his sublime playing. We’re delighted to welcome him back to play Scriabin’s evocative and impressionistic second sonata, followed by Chopin’s fiendishly difficult Sonata No 3.
This year for the first time we are pleased to partner with the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, which offers a fellowship programme for a small cohort of exceptional young pianists. We are delighted to showcase the considerable talents of three of their Young Scholars: Deva Mira Sperandio, Julian Zhu, and Aidan Siqi Zhao. Who knows, perhaps one will be a future winner of the Hastings International Piano Competition?

You are very welcome to picnic in the lovely gardens before the concert (the gardens are open from midday), or you can book a place for a delicious buffet lunch to be served on the terrace, which will include 2 courses, wine and coffee or tea, at £55 per head.
Please note that the cost of lunch is in addition to your concert ticket.
There will be a long interval of 45 minutes.
