The Gallivant’s New Events for Spring Wellness

With the New Year comes an interesting set of wellness events at the Gallivant.

New Moon Day Retreat (Saturday 18th February)

Join India Terry for a New Moon inspired yoga and intention setting practice, designed to offer time for introspection and reflection. The New Moon phase represents new beginnings and is an ideal time to plant seeds and set goals for the future. After the mindful yoga session, guests will be given time to reflect and acknowledge their growth and set clear intentions for the month and year ahead. 

After yoga guests will enjoy a mindful walk along Camber Sands beach, where they will have time to connect to the natural beauty surrounding them. On return to The Gallivant, a delicious and nourishing two-course lunch will be served.

Eco-Friendly Candle Making (Saturday 25th February)

Join Beca from Olsten Candles for an engaging morning making their own uniquely scented candle. Thoughtfully planned during a waxing moon, this workshop will teach guests the techniques used in candle making, and guide them in making their own eco-friendly, responsibly sourced soy wax candle; choosing scents perfectly blended for each individual guest. Whilst waiting for their candles to set: locally sourced snacks will be served.

Aligned with the waxing moon phase of the month, it’s the perfect time for learning new skills, and at the end of the event, guests will leave with their finished product.

Spring Equinox Tea Ceremony (Saturday 18th March)

Join Amana just before the Spring Equinox for a profoundly meditative Chadō tea ceremony. This is a tea ceremony where preparation and presentation follow a defined ritual to respect lineage, steeped in meaning and purpose. After the ceremony there is an option to add on a delicious two-course lunch.

Aligned with the waning phase of the moon, this is the perfect time to restore guests to their natural state of being. This event offers an opportunity to learn new rituals or centuries-old practices that bring individuals closer to themselves and the environment around them.

Food Fermentation for Health (Saturday 25th March)

Join Georgie Williams at The Gallivant, for a refreshing morning workshop where guests will learn the benefits of, and how to create their own home ferments. It’s been shown that our gut health is deeply beneficial for digestion, mental health, hormonal balance and much more. 

Lacto-fermentation was a vital way to preserve food over the winter months. This workshop will teach the simple and ancient processes to take produce all through the seasons. At this hands-on 2 hour workshop, Georgie will teach the key principles of making naturally living ferments that form a delicious, nutritious and sustainable solution to food waste.

Stargazing in the Dunes (Saturday 15th April)

Join Pete from Night Sky Tours UK for an inspiring evening of star-gazing in the dunes of Camber Sands. Accompanied with a warming drink, guests will head to the dunes in the evening to observe the light of the stars in the dark sky.

With Venus entering the Pleiades, the seven sisters will be shining for all to see through Pete’s handcrafted telescope. Before this event there is the option of enjoying a delicious 2 course dinner.

Botanical Dyeing Workshop (Saturday 20th May)

Join Isobel Spence for an inspiring morning workshop where guests will learn and practice the skills of dyeing with plants. Plant dyeing is a slow, sustainable craft that uses natural materials to yield extraordinary dyes to colour textiles. This is an ancient craft practised for millennia.

In this hands-on workshop guests will be taught how to safely and sustainably forage for dye materials; create a dye bath, and dye their own textiles. This is a beginner friendly workshop, giving individuals the confidence to continue experimenting with their local plants and plant dyeing practice at home Guests will have the opportunity to dye and take home an organic, locally sourced cotton scarf.
