To Hear the Trees Speak with Olivia Sprinkel
Rye Library
Wednesday 11 November
2 to 3pm
Olivia Sprinkel is a nature writer, nature connection guide and sustainability consultant. She is the author of the narrative non-fiction book ‘To Hear the Trees Speak’. Her poetry has been published in numerous anthologies
Olivia will share her journey to listen to ten trees around the world, from Australia to the Amazon basin, and the lessons she learnt from the trees. The trees include the banyan, the giant sequoia and a beech tree just outside of Lewes which became her lockdown tree.
Olivia was inspired to set out on her journey by reading how the baobab trees in Africa were dying because of climate change. This talk encourages us to ask what our role is as part of the natural world, and looks at how we can deepen our connection with trees and other living beings.
Copies of Olivia’s book will be available to buy, and cash or card will be accepted.
