Would you like to learn skills that could save a life? writes Carl Fraser. Rother Responders are providing free training in Winchelsea on May 21 from 7 pm. The session lasts for around one and a half hours and covers dealing with an unconscious patient and the use of a defibrillator (pictured above) if someone has a heart attack. You will also learn what to do in the event of someone choking, and how to perform hands-only cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The session is very informal and will take place at Court Hall in Winchelsea High Street. There will be a chance for you to practice the techniques shown and also see and use a defibrillator. Early defibrillation can dramatically increase the chances of survival for a patient in cardiac arrest and the equipment is very easy to use. A public access defibrillator has recently been installed at the New Inn in Winchelsea. For further details or to book your place, please email the Responders.
