Wet day leads to bumper playtime

A family hard at work during the children's activity afternoon

Rye Museum had its latest children’s activity afternoon at the East Street site on Wednesday August 26 writes Ray Prewer. It was a wet and windy day but 22 children and 24 adults, including parents and grandparents attended, an excellent turnout. The activities available included:

  • Newspaper bat and balls held together with sticky tape
  • Noughts and Crosses with a slate as the base and stones marked with chalk as the pieces.
  • Paper fish to be decorated with various pieces of coloured paper, felt and glitter.

We were surprised by the high turnout and there were just two volunteers – Heather Stevenson and Sue Manktelow. But they were resourceful and got the parents and grandparents involved. At the end of two hours there were a lot of very happy children and relaxed parents, including a family from Germany.
