Rother District Council is encouraging residents to sign up to its garden waste collection service, with a discounted service until mid-July and the chance to win garden centre vouchers.

Until 28 February, new customers can subscribe to the garden waste service for a reduced price of £40 for their first bin. Everyone who signs up during this period will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win one of three £50 Blackbrooks Garden Centre vouchers.

Garden waste collected by the council is composted sustainably, helping to reduce landfill waste and lower carbon emissions associated with individual car journeys. The resulting compost is then reused, supporting soil health and more sustainable growing.

Residents who sign up during the offer period will receive collections until 14 July 2026. After this date, customers can decide whether they wish to continue with the service for the 2026/27 season.

Renewal details and the applicable charge will be sent in advance, giving residents time to choose whether to continue.

The charge for one garden waste bin was £83 in July 2025.

  1. This is a bit rich. How dare they offer this service for £40 when those of us that have been customers for a long time are penalised with an exhorbitant £83 charge! How about giving we long-standing users of the brown bins a few months free?

  2. Not much of a discount ! £83 for a year is £6.92 per month – from now to the 14th July is just under 6 months – about £40 worth of bin collections, if you don’t sign up until the end of February it’s actually a premium of nearly £9 !
