Haiden Debley-Turner is a young fundraiser for the RNLI based at Rye Harbour. He is nearly 16 years old and was born with spina bifida, undergoing his first operation when he was just nine hours old. He is in a wheelchair and has had a great deal to contend with, and yet he wants to raise funds for the RNLI by engaging in the RNLI fundraising Mayday Mile.

On day six, he completed the mile in the RNLI lifejacket and helmet to add some extra weight (it was very heavy). Thank you to Lucy Green, a crew member at the station, for getting him the kit, and thank you to everyone who has sponsored so far.
What is the Mayday Mile ?

People across the UK and Ireland are stepping up for the RNLI’s Mayday Mile Challenge – and you can too. From the beginning of May, people were challenged to cover one mile a day for thirty-one days. They could walk it, jog it, run it, cycle it, swim it or get creative and do it in their own way. Whatever method they chose, every mile that is completed and every pound or euro they raise will help power the RNLI’s lifesaving work.
