The Sunflower Charity shop in Cinque Ports Street is extending its support to the community by introducing a weekly rail of preloved clothing at the Rye Foodbank. The initiative aims to ensure that good quality clothing items, which have remained unsold in the shop after a period of time, can still benefit local residents before being sent to a textile recycling company.

Each week a selection of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing will be made available at no cost to foodbank visitors. This offers practical help to individuals and families facing financial pressures. The idea grew from a desire to make the most of donated items and supporting as many people as possible.

“We receive wonderful donations from the community, and whilst we do our best to sell as much as we can to raise funds, some good quality pieces don’t find a buyer. We wanted to give them another chance to be used and appreciated. The scheme also supports our environmental goals by keeping wearable clothing in circulation for longer reducing textile waste and promoting preloved!”

Donations of clean, good condition items continue to be welcomed at the Sunflower Charity Shop.
