On Friday, July 3, Rye Cricket Club holds its Annual Bat & Trap evening to raise funds. The evening hits off at 7pm with an outside bar and barbecue. Funds are needed as the saga of the Sidney Allnut pavilion continues, writes Martin Blinkow. The building has been out of use due to building regulation issues, which now seem to continue for some time. Thus the club has sadly been forced to cancel its prestigious game versus the MCC on August 11. The Club also held its first ever bingo event at Tilling Green Community Centre raising £250 much needed funds for the Pavilion. With donated raffle prizes and home made cakes, the evening was enjoyed and well supported by local residents and first team members. Gary Bourn entertained all those in attendance with his bingo calling skills. The Club would like to thank Tilling Green Residents Association for lending us the bingo machine, Margaret, Shirley, Tina Swann, Sheila, Lyn, Wendy, Elizabeth and Myra for their help with this event and all those who attended the evening.
