The panel would particularly like to acknowledge the continued drive and commitment of club members.”
RYA Sport Development Manager Alistair Dickson added: “We’re delighted to announce the 2018 finalists and Certificates of Commendation for the RYA and Yachts and Yachting Club of the Year Award. The people involved in each one of these clubs have worked hard to create fantastic projects and activities which make it possible for people to enjoy being out on the water at their venue.”
Caroline Wylson, former Commodore at Rye Harbour, said: “The club is delighted to receive the Certificate of Commendation. A tremendous amount of hard work with sustained effort by a small group of volunteers enabled the project to build new changing rooms go ahead. This award goes towards recognising the team’s hard work and persistence in their endeavour to provide a future for the club for generations to come”.
The award winners were selected by a panel of judges including double Olympic medalist and award ambassador Saskia Clark, RYA CEO Sarah Tresseder and Yachts and Yachting Editor Georgie Corlett-Pitt.
The awards will be presented on Saturday March 3 at the RYA Dinghy Show, on the Suzuki Mainstage at 4pm before the overall winner is revealed.
Special thanks go to Arthur J Gallagher who continue to support the Club of the Year Award and to Sailing Awards who donated the perpetual RYA Club of the Year trophy when the award was first introduced in 2008.
