The 2024 cricket season is in the final stages of planning. The committee has been working hard since September in ensuring the club enters the 2024 season fully prepared.

The five year development plan has been updated, and the re-accreditation process is well underway for the ECB Clubmark quality standard.

Members of the committee have started raising sponsorship for the club to support the playing and coaching of cricket and the investment required to sustain the Diamond Koz cricket pavilion and maintain the square and outfield of the Cricket Salts, as Rother District Council ends its fine turf contract on November 30. This will require the club to take on additional responsibilities for the ground.

If a business or an individual feels they would like to offer support through sponsorship please contact the club through the secretary, Martin Blincow at blincsfamily@aol.com. The club has a number of ways that in return they can provide value to a sponsor.

On the playing side, recruitment has been busy. The club is expecting the arrival of two Australians on the playing side, who will be enjoying a summer in Rye. There are other potential signings in the offing.

Adult nets will commence at the end of February. The Junior nets commence on March 6, at Rye Sports Centre, 6pm – 7pm softball and 7pm – 8pm hardball. The club is extremely grateful to both the Rye Fund and the Ted Baker Trust for the provision of grant money to support the Junior coaching programme.

Elements of the grant funds are supporting the club’s delivery of cricket sessions in Rye Primary School, where each class from year 3 onwards is enjoying four sessions in curriculum time of cricket, with coaches from Rye Cricket Club.

The intention is to host a Sussex County Cricket Club Roadshow at Rye Sports Centre for local young people and to establish an after school cricket club for Rye Primary School.
All of these details and more will be available at the club’s annual general meeting on Sunday, January 28 at 7:30pm in the Diamond Koz cricket pavilion.
