At its recent AGM Rye Cricket Club began the 2020 season, with a reflection on the successes of 2019, and the planning for the forthcoming season.

Last season the 1st and 2nd XIs recorded their highest ever finishes in the Sussex Cricket Pyramid, and the young nursery of the 3rd XI finished a creditable mid table.

For 2020 Harry Smeed continues as 1st XI skipper with vice captain George Wathen. Scott Balcomb takes the reins as skipper of the 2nd XI with Mark Cook as vice captain. James Jury continues as 3rd XI captain, with John Josiah as vice captain.

The committee is strengthened with the election of Peter Farrow to the new post of pavilion manager, Debbie Keen takes on the role of fundraising, Peter Ashbee takes on a property maintenance role and Nick Clarke becomes the new league contact. Existing post holders were all re-elected.

The junior section starts the winter coaching programme on Thursday, February 20 at Rye Sports Centre. A big thank you to The Ted Baker Trust, The Rye Fund and Active Rother for their financial support. If finance is a barrier to participation, please contact us as the club can help.

The timings are:
5-6pm softball £30 for 10 weeks
6-7pm hardball £50 for 10 weeks, age 8-13
7-8pm hardball £50 for 10 weeks age 14-18

The coaching has fully qualified ECB coaches, and has been the base for the growth and development of Rye Cricket Club. To get your son or daughter involved contact Martin Blincow at blincsfamily@aol.com.
