Rye Town 2 Bexhill Town 0

On Saturday, March 30 Rye returned to winning ways defeating bottom-of-the-league Bexhill Town 2-0 courtesy of goals from Sammy Foulkes and Will Brown. The win keeps Rye top of the league with seven league games remaining. This was a good win, bouncing back from defeat last weekend when Rye lost in the league for the first time in eighteen months. However, Rye still boasts a marvellous home record: yet to be beaten since the last defeat at home over two years ago!

Man of the match for the game was sixteen-year-old Oliver McDonald.

The reserves’ game was abandoned due to a nasty head injury sustained by club captain Barney Osbourn resulting in a ride in an ambulance to hospital. After concussion, a few bumps and a black eye, Barney is recovering well.

March ‘player of the month’ for the first team went to Dan Kearley and March ‘player of the month’ for the reserves was split three ways, Billy Blackford, Owen Barden and Taylor Field all sharing the award.

Westfield 0 Rye Town 1

On Monday, April 1 Rye travelled to Westfield in a top-of-the-table clash, Rye coming out on top by securing a valuable 1-0 victory. Sam Hesmer scored the goal.

April 23 is cup final night when Rye face Hollington in an eagerly anticipated encounter. The Macron Cup final is to be played at Little Common FC 7:45pm kick-off when everyone’s support will be very much appreciated: this will be a very tough game.
