Icklesham Casuals made it two wins out of two in Division Four of the East Sussex League last Saturday with a 2-1 victory at home to West Hill United.

They got off to a great start when Val Newman was brought down in the area in the 5th minute and Sean Baker calmly dispatched the penalty. The Casuals were the better team in the first period and increased their lead on 35 minutes following an excellent move which saw Adam Sully play Phil Badrock in with Badrock laying the ball across to Sam Norman who passed the ball into the net.

Sully, Newman and Badrock all had good opportunities to increase the lead and make the game safe, but it was West Hill who finished the stronger putting Icklesham under real pressure in the final twenty minutes. They had a clear chance to reduce the deficit when one-on-one with Casuals’ keeper Michael Watson but the finish went wide of the post. West Hill pulled a goal back when substitute James Walker scored direct from a free-kick in the 85th minute leaving Icklesham to hold on for the win.

This Saturday sees the Casuals away to Battle Town III with the kick-off being 3:30pm while on Sunday the Veterans play their first match in the Hastings FA Veterans League when they take on Sedlescombe Rangers Veterans at the Recreation Ground. That game kicks-off at 11am.
