A yacht rescue off Fairlight on Sunday 3 May involved lifeboat and coastguard crews.
Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat was called at 1pm to check on a 42ft yacht suffering engine problems. Two of the crew conducted safety checks on the single person on board.
RNLI Hastings towed the yacht to harbour, after support from Rye and Hastings Coastguards.

There was more proof that some Rye businesses are at the forefront of innovation during a networking evening for teams using AI in their work. The event at Space Coworking on Fishmarket Road was organised by Jane Brook on Friday 24 April.
Creatives, musicians, medical researchers and financial journalists were among those taking part sharing how they use AI, some using it extensively with others still experimenting.
Grants programme discussion
Rother council leaders are set to make a decision on the future funding of a popular community grants programme, writes Hugh Oxburgh, Local Democracy Reporter.
On 11 May, RDC’s cabinet is due to decide whether to continue to fund the authority’s Community Grants Scheme in 2026/27 and 2027/28. If approved, as is recommended by officers, the council would be expected to maintain a £100,000 pot, which will be available for the use of not-for-profit organisations in the area.
Last year, the programme received 52 applications which collectively sought £462,843. Fifteen applications were approved, resulting in £98,913 being awarded.
Successful applicants included £2,000 to support Rye Cricket Club with its grounds maintenance and £5,000 for the Sara Lee Trust provide its therapy service for people affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

A national kitesurfing competition takes place at Broomhill Sands at Camber this weekend.
Pro and amateur men and women will compete to be crowned champions of Big Air on Saturday and Sunday 8 to 9 May, followed by celebrations at The Camber Castle.

Born in the USA

A concert to raise money to re-gild the Quarterboys on St Mary’s church clock in Rye will celebrate the best in USA music next week.
Americana on Saturday 16 May features the Long Riders, plus special guest Rebecca Stroud, who will be performing songs by Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Jackson Browne – and many more, with the “Sing it Out” in support.
The Long Riders feature local musicians and artists who have played all over the world for this one-off show. The concert starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets at £10 can be purchased from Grammar School Records, St. Mary’s Church Rye, or on the door.
